Poet Duško Trifunović enjoyed fame and popularity. Millions knew his verses because the best Yugoslav bands used many of his poems as lyrics. At the same time, Trifunovic's unique gift was taken for granted. He wrote seemingly straightforwardly: his verses were melodic, his imagery was crystal clear, and it all felt like a continuation of the centuries-old folk tradition.
