Vasko Popa is undoubtedly one of the best Serbian and Yugoslav poets. He forged his unique style by combining surrealistic “logic” with the highly economical manner of folk riddles.
Popa's verse is simple, crystal clear, but unusual in its narrative. It is familiar and strange as if it came from a parallel reality where other versions of us do their cosmic dance.
